What can I do for a veteran?
How can I give something back?
These are questions I’ve asked myself several times when meeting a veteran or when I go up to them and thank them for their service.
I’ve been blessed with a talent for photography and it is this tool I intend to use so that I can give something back to our veterans that have proudly served our nation.
Therefore, every veteran I photograph will receive a complimentary, high-resolution portrait photo they can share with their family and friends. Their portraits and stories will be shared through a dedicated website, social media, and exhibitions, so that we can keep their contribution to our nation’s military alive.
Our nation’s veterans come from all walks of life but they share something in common, the service they have given our great nation. Most of us know a veteran, a parent, an uncle, an aunt, a neighbor.
I am the son of a veteran as my father proudly served in the US Marine Corps while stationed in the Philippines during the Korean Conflict. I also have several uncles, cousins and family members that served in the military.
While this project is starting in my hometown of Brownsville, Texas, it is my hope that I can continue this project throughout the South Texas region and perhaps beyond.
I hope this project inspires others to use their talents toward helping veterans and keeping their stories alive forever.
